About this share house

If you're going to live in a share house, you'd like to get to know people from many countries. But you may worry about finding a way to start talking. This share house is a good fit for people who feel that way. Residents of every nationality live here, both students and working people in many different jobs. The operating company holds parties and events regularly, so residents have natural chances to talk with one another.

■ Commuting
From Mizonokuchi, the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line takes you directly to Shibuya in 14 minutes. Mizonokuchi is also the starting station of the Tokyu Oimachi Line, so trips to Jiyugaoka or toward Shinagawa are easy. The JR Nambu Line takes you to Kawasaki and Tachikawa without changing trains, and Shinjuku is about 30 minutes with a change at Shibuya. From KSP, a 3-minute walk from the house, a free shuttle bus also runs to Mizonokuchi Station (residents cannot ride it during the morning commuting hours).

■ Daily shopping
There are many supermarkets around Mizonokuchi Station, along with shopping facilities such as Marui. Near the house there are also supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants, so you won't be stuck if you suddenly need something. The riverbank of the Tama River is about 5 minutes away by bicycle, with parks and cycling paths.

■ Your room and shared spaces
The building opened in April 2017. Fully private rooms line the 2nd to 5th floors, and the 6th floor is the rooftop. Each floor has its own feel, with different hallway floors, walls and doors.
On the 1st floor, the living room has a dining space and a play room with a billiard table side by side. There are also sofas and counter seats, so you can choose where to sit depending on your mood that day. The island kitchen looks out over the living room and has three 3-burner gas stoves, so it has enough room for several people to cook at the same time without feeling cramped.
There is also a laundry lounge where you can spend time while you wait for the washer or dryer. Showers are separate for men and women, and the women's side has a powder room. From the rooftop you can look out toward the Tama River, and in summer you can watch the fireworks festival.
The sister house, Mizonokuchi 100⁺a, is a 1-minute walk away, so you can widen your circle with residents of both buildings.

  3. First House Mizonokuchi 100⁺b

At the end of this summer, First House Mizonokuchi 100⁺a and 100⁺b held a joint BBQ. The two houses are about a one-minute walk apart, and around 35 residents from both came along.

We stocked up at Costco for the big group. It rained on the day, so the grill stayed outside while everyone ate and talked indoors. The living room was full of English, Japanese and other languages, and the laughter didn't stop. A few housemates had birthdays around then, so we added a surprise birthday celebration too.

Residents from the two houses got along right away, which is what we enjoy most about joint events.
