If you are looking for a foreigner-friendly share house in the Kichijoji, Tachikawa, or Hachioji areas, the best approach is to narrow your search to properties along the Chuo Line, many of which allow you to discuss moving in without a guarantor.

Kichijoji and Mitaka offer direct access to Shinjuku via the Chuo Line; while rents are slightly higher, the convenience is a major draw.
